I'm moving from NYC to LA and trying to figure out which bank to switch to. I currently have an account with TD Bank but sadly they are just East Coast.

I've had a bad experience with BOA so that's out of the question. I'm thinking of going with either Chase or Citibank because I'll be traveling back and forth a lot.

But are there any good West Coast banks? How's Wells Fargo?

I also just pretty much do the basics, checking and savings, I don't get into anything bigger.

Thanks!

My brother uses Wells Fargo and likes it (in San Diego). I use BOA; he used that when he was here, too. Since moving, he says he likes WF better. He just does normal checking account stuff, too, nothing outrageous.

Use a credit union instead.
Choose one that is convenient and has a safe deposit box to protect your valuables (like computer data backups).

You could use JPMorgan Chase which has branches on the East & West Coasts.

I was with Bank of A. Levy a local Ventura County Bank but they were bought out by First Interstate. So I was with them for a while but they were bought out by Wells Fargo. I moved to American Commercial bank because my employer uses them, but then they were merged into Mid-State Bank. After being with Mid-State bank I switched to Rabobank because they bought up Mid-State Bank. Now I am patiently waiting for someone to snap up Rabobank. (If you switch the letters around it becomes Rob A Bank.) I am thinking that in another decade or two we will only have one bank to choose from. LOL
