I will be moving to the Mandeville area in December and I am interested in teaching jobs. I have taught 17 years in Tennessee and have a master's degree. How difficult will it be to find a teaching job and does anyone have any advice on where to look etc? Thank you for your help!

I posted this in a thread in the New Orleans sub-forum:

As for the public schools, the state has a website that, in theory, is a state-wide application. https://oesprd01.doe.louisiana.gov/Default.asp? There are job links on the top left in the blue box. It's called "Teach Louisiana".

Also, you could try going to the school district's websites and applying through them. You can search on Google for the following:
Jefferson Parish School Board
Plaquemines Parish School Board
St. Bernard Parish Public Schools
St. Tammany Parish School Board
St. Charles Parish School Board

Orleans Parish is a different beast entirely. Many of the schools are charters and it can be difficult to figure out who to apply to. With the charters, you may need to apply directly through the school itself and/or the organization that runs it (such as KIPP). You can Google the following as a start:
Orleans Parish School Board
Recovery School District
Algiers Charter School Association
You'd probably want to look less on the south shore and more on the north.

With that experience, you'd probably have a good chance, but I don't know how the job market is on the north shore.

Good luck!
