This is a nation founded under the US Constitution not the Articles of Confederation (as you seem to think...we are a nation not a loose confederation of semi independent states)

Corporate welfare DWARFS social welfare. Hell, the oil subsidies alone outpace most other entitlements.

The USA was the only industrialized nation that didn't offer a Healthcare program for its citizens.
A healthier, better educated child is a more productive adult. The other way ends up being far more expensive.
