^Basically, that sums up to what I just said.
The fact that it's so many definitions make it clear.
The only thing common in any of those is time period/history.

I am from the Shreveport Area in LA (Haughton is the suburb I live in). We just call our selfs Louisianian. I've looked into moving off some place in south Alaska, as I have allergies and an adversion to heat. I'm visiting New Orleans for a bit on family business and, yes, it feels totally different than North Louisiana, where I live.

Ok here's one:
What if you are French decended from the Quebec Province (Not confirmed Acadian), white and live in South Louisiana? I would think I would have no right to call myself Cajun. Would I just be a standard Louisianian?

If you are a permanent resident (meaning you have a driver's license, can vote, have more or less established yourself here) then you are a Louisianian. I would choose the state's citizen designation for myself regardless of where I lived be it California, Colorado, Georgia, etc. But only if you are a citizen of Louisiana would you call yourself a Louisianian. I mean, once I move to another state and establish residency there, I would cease to be a Louisianian. I would then be only someone who hails from Louisiana.

No one is automatically a Cajun or Creole just because they are Louisiana citizens. We do have other kinds of people.

To Fecamp: no, you're not a Cajun. You are close to being one but the Cajun history is pretty definite and I don't think that would be a fit.

Well said, and completely accurate

I was born in Louisiana, but I am neither "cajun" or "creole". I'm just a native Louisianaian.

Same here, but I proudly embrace the term "coonass."

And I am also a member of the WHODAT NATION. Even though I live in east Texas (Whodat Nation does not acknowledge anything called a "state line!").

It all depends on where you were raised. Some folks refer to their city or if they're of Cajun descent, they're Cajuns.
But generally, Louisianian is what I would refer to myself as.
