What's the deal with the Panorama Burger House in Lake Charles? There's just a sign... nothing else. Google Earth Street View shows a boarded up building. When I was there in March, the building was gone and just the sign remained. Looked pretty old... has a cool retro looking sign, maybe 50s or 60s? Was this a popular place once? What happened?

Absolutely no clue. But I know what you are talking about.

Maybe a hurricane blew it away.

I have no idea the history if it, but I looked on Google Earth, and it appears the place was torn down at the beginning of 2008. I asked my grandparents what they knew about it, and they remembered the place. My grandfather said they made great steaks back in the day. The diner was located on 601 Bilbo St., Lake Charles, La 70601. Here in 2017, the sign still remains; the only clue left to what might have been a great burger diner. I'm extremely curious about the history of this place. Anyone who knows should definitely speak up about it. I'd love to see the place rebuilt and renovated as a 50s diner. I'm really glad I stumbled across this place driving around downtown.

My idea of what happened to it is that Hurricane Rita got the best of it. It wasn't gone after Hurricane Rita, but it was ruined. If you look at the pictures on Google Earth, you can tell the hurricane had an effect on the building. I still think it should have been renovated rather than torn down, however.
