I live in Texarkana, Tx and will be in Amite, La around the 10th. I found 2 different routes on MapQuest. One takes me through Shreveport where I catch I-20 to Jackson and then take I-55 down to Amite. The total mileage is 404 miles. The other way I catch I-49 in Shreveport down to Lafayette and then take I-10 into Baton Rouge where I take I-12 to Hammond and then take I-55 to Amite. Total mileage is 367 miles. Although the second option is shorter, according to MapQuest a total of only 8 minutes travel time seperates the 2 routes. I know the route going through Baton Rouge gets congested. My question is which route do you feel is the best for me to take? All replies/solutions are appreciated and helpful.

The first route, mainly to avoid Baton Rouge traffic, I-12 can get bad going to Hammond.
