Hi,
I'm new in the city and have a little confusion regarding vehicle inspection.
I just bought a new car, and the dealer didn't mention anything about inspection. It occurred to me afterwards, and i checked the winshield, but didn't see a sticker. Should a new car be inspected as well? Or is it exempt for a certain period?

Thanks for any tips..

If you are licensed and registered in Louisiana and there is nothing on the windshield, then you need to go to the nearest DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) for clarification and status. If your vehicle is new to the state, you will have to pay taxes based on seventy-five percent of its assessed value initially, at least that's what it was when I transferred a car in 1988, so you can probably expect it has changed somewhat plus or minus...

The good news is, it's about ten bucks a year thereafter.....

Just so y'all know, somebody in the state government actually did something useful for the citizens of the state: As of September 1, you can opt to have a two-year inspection sticker instead of one-year. Of course, you will have to pay double, but it means that you won't have to have the car reinspected every year.
