I've been researching Louisiana for a long time, and throughout my whole entire childhood something, somewhere always brought up Louisiana.

I'm looking in small towns, Morgan City, Breaux Bridge, are the two I'd prefer. But rents are so incredibly HIGH, for what reason?

Does anyone know how/where I can find a nice and decent apartment for UNDER $600?

I thought about moving into a mobile home, but heck those are expensive too.

$600 is cheap anywhere you go. Where are you coming from?

I live in Florida and can easily find a 1 bedroom for $550.00 Also, I didn't include anything about utilities, that stuff is separate. I am talking about RENT.

I've lived in Las Vegas, Chicago, Jacksonville Florida, Saint Louis Missouri, Topeka and Manhattan Kansas and had ZERO problems finding apartments for under $600.00, nothing under $450 though.

You can find them, but that's the threshold for ghetto/barely ghetto complexes.

Does Morgan City or Breaux Bridge even have a ghetto? Those towns are too small!

I think Morgan City has bad areas. Out of 5000 people there's going to be 100 who are trouble makers, and they will live in the cheaper apartments and homes.

Definitely nothing to worry about, none of the small towns are actually rough. I would live in a small towns "hood" before I EVER live near any inner city in a major urban core.

Thanks for nothing.

I've pretty nice apartments and studios in inner cities plenty. I was just trying to warn you that under $600 can get shabby and being that small towns are own > rent.
