As for the rest of your post, sorry I wish I could comment. I'm just not really familiar with southwest Louisiana. Seems like a nice place, though, from what I've seen of it. The L'auberge is a very nice resort.
Not so nice with all the pollution.

If you ride on the south end of Houston around Clear Lake you'll find a similar situation with the plants out there. That shouldn't be a reason to not develop our lakefront.

You know? I said at one time, don't be surprised if the north and the east get population increases due to the shortage of housing. I have the feeling that places, like Iowa and Lebleu Settlement are about to see an increase in housing. I'm hoping to see an improvement (expansion) in our shopping/retail options too!

Iowa and Lebleu both have several new subdivisions that were recently approved at Calcasieu Parish Police Jury meetings.

If anyone is looking for homesites with spacious areas then look no further than the CPPJ meeting minutes for the names of the developers that can provide that to you!

Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, LA : PJ Minutes and Agendas

Here are a few examples of recent subdivision approvals in Lake Charles Louisiana area:
Coffey Farms Subdivision
Oak Grove Development
Goldsmith Farms

Unfortunately I'm unable to see any renderings. That said, the lake area does need some new developments with decent sized lots.

If this is ever built, it would totally transform the Lake Charles lakefront:

Every time I go back for a visit I'm dumbfounded as to how anyone would want to live on that lake front due to that hideous view on the other side.

I think he is talking about looking at the petrochemical plants at the other side of the lake.

If you go to Baton Rouge, you will see that the riverfront has the same backdrop.
