I agree that more social programs and paying the tuition sounds like a good idea.

Now consider me... I missed TOPS eligibility by one year in 1996! So I had to work my way through university education. When it was possible for me to do it, why is it not possible now? Are universities in need of financial reform that requires more effort than a short term funding fix?

The march to increase social programs over the past 50 years has hit the brick wall of funding.

We can take care of everyone if only they would allow the state government to issue more debt.

Louisiana state government should do this and let our younger generations pay off the debt using a 20 year bond. While they can't yet talk, I am sure they would agree it's a great idea to reduce the stability of our democracy in the future at the expense of a better life today!

This is a great sign for business that our state of Louisiana government is trimming back and reducing the financial burden on the people.
Yeah, that worked for Mississippi. /sarc

Pay increase perhaps but that won't prevent cutbacks to law enforcement agencies.

Whoa Nancy. Most of us out here are not for paying for your "social programs" or other government handouts.
Fiscal responsibility is the route we prefer here.
