The IBM salary isn't that great. It's an entry level position. Maybe above average for the area but about in line with what I'm used too. I probably would just live here a year or two to gain experience and then move on, even though moving across country (yet again) is not something I want to do.
The only ONLY possible way I would possibly recommend moving to Monroe is if you're only going to be there for a year or so. It's so cheap, you can save practically all of your money for a down payment on a home that's somewhere worth living. I recently had to staff an open position at a business I own in Monroe (because the locals can't be trusted to tie their own shoes, let alone with in public), and in order to get my guy to move, I add to pay all living expenses, give a solid raise, and write up a contract that explicitly promises a transfer in 8 months. It's that bad.

If you do end up going, just know that the only people with knowing are the evening drinks crowd at Nona and Cotton.

But yes, Monroe is pretty bad.

Monroe is the worst place I've ever been to in the United States. I cannot stand Monrore Louisiana, I'm leaving here soon as possible. I've lived here all my life.

I contracted multiple sclerosis while I was here.....that's the only reason why I haven't been able leave. i'm back on my feet now, heading out of here at all speed, leaving this place in a cloud of dust. The people here are ( for the most part ) very judgmental,backstabbing,two-faced,hillbilly,redneck,ignorant,liar's. There is nothing absolutely nothing to do here unless you like to hunt or fish 24 seven.

There's no night life whatsoever just a bunch of fake a** plastic people, and if you try to have an intelligent conversation with someone good luck with that man, intelligence is really looked down upon and next to impossible to find. I find that intelligent I find that intelligent people do not stay in Monrore they move, all my friends did.

This Place is dead, there's no support for the Arts. There's this little thing called The Art Crawl.... but the whole community is honestly so..........."tidy Whitey" (I'm white so I can say that lol) there so scared anything different ...... Very cliquish .....

There's a lot of Hell, brimstone, damnation ect....Bible beating hypocrites here. There's a church about every 10 feet,..... (I have nothing against Real,Loving and Kind Christians) but every 10 feet, that's really weird. As Far as the Christians go (for the most part, from what I have experienced) are such liars it's like a show to them it's like a social fad or something,it's nothing real.

So my friend in all seriousness do Not move to Monroe Louisiana it's a waste of your time money and energy. Move to a place that you can enjoy and truly LIVE! and not just exist. I wouldn't waste one breath here If I did not have to.
