Why is "sportsman's paradise" the phrase on them? "Birthplace of jazz" would seem much more appropriate to me. But I have a suspicion that a certain group of people would never let my idea fly...

Because the majority of our state lives in a rural area and they love to fish.

Sportsman Paradise is greatness. Jazz only belongs to NOLA, not the entire state.

Who is this group of people? Let's not create barriers.

What about "birthplace of zydeco" instead?

Why does it have to be music? Why not food? Or something in old Cajun or Creole French? It could be a million things.

But one of Louisiana's favorite past time and traditional ways of making a living and staying alive is fishing. For the past 300+ years, since the Acadians got here, that was their way of life and all of that was passed down from generation to generation. And it continues today.

Louisiana is not defined by " jazz music " . That is a very narrow view of our culture that is perpetuated by our inept office of tourism .

Majority of our state lives in urban areas (MSA).

Something in French would be nice. Sportsman's Paradise doesn't really resonate with everyone here.
