I want to own a shotgun and I want to know is there anything special I should have to have /own one and carry it in my vehicle?

You don't need anything, you can carry it in your vehicle also without any permits.

No , it is not . But most of the same firearms laws apply equally .

You're not supposed to have a round in the chamber in pistols, I don't know about rifles though.

But what's the point in that?

Yes you can. Where did you see that you can't have a round in the chamber? I always carry chambered.

Various people, police, and my CCP class instructors.

None of those people told you it was against the law to carry chambered. The law in Louisiana is very straight forward on open carry. Our law enforcement and CCP instructors know the law well. There are other states that do have that law but never in Louisiana.

If your CCP instructor told you that he is an idiot as well as incorrect . Police as well . It simply is not true .
