Aside from a lack of seasons, heat, and more car centric lifestyle its pretty much the same as the north.
Everywhere in the country youll find simpler ways of life north or south. Cities are mostly the same everywhere. The Us is honestly not very different anymore north to south. Southern cities are more autocentric. Northern cities are older and rely more on subway and metro. Traffic is terrible everywhere. If I wasnt so entrenched and utterly in love with Louisiana I could live basically anywhere and fit in fine.

Gallup poll shows 40% of Louisiana residents would live elsewhere if they could whereas only 9% of Texans would move.

Half in Illinois and Connecticut Want to Move Elsewhere

There's a vast difference in politics, lifestlyes, etc. I wouldn't call it pretty much the same.

I wonder where the got this from?
I mean, I'd love to leave, but I'd love to stay as well. I just wish we were moving at a faster pace.

FROM THE GALLUP POLL SITE:

"These findings are from a 50-state Gallup poll, conducted June-December 2013, which includes at least 600 representative interviews with residents aged 18 and older in each state. Gallup measured residents' interest in moving out of state by asking, "Regardless of whether you will move, if you had the opportunity, would you like to move to another state, or would you rather remain in your current state?"

Would be interested in more specifics but that's not realistic at this point.

Yeah sure, but it's other things as well. Politics, education, infrastructure to name most.
There's a reason we still have to work to keep young people like me, I'm not expecting an overnight change but I shouldn't have to wait 15 years for significant change. Right now I plan on going to New Orleans, but my options are still open.

It's hot, wet, and swarming with bugs. Also jobs.

The only thing I can't stand about being and living in the south is that "Old School Mentalility". Red states in particular, its if they can't stand progressiveness its like most of them have a redneck backwood thinking about everything. This kind of thinking holds back alot of southern states like Louisiana.
