Hoodlum: A hoodlum can be anyone from a dangerous thug to a person who’s just up to no good

As a Southern State, its time to leap forward, and the first step to do so, is make sure crime involving gun violence is prosecuted swiftly.
Create and Anti-Robbery, Anti-Home Burglary, Anti-Car Burglary, Anti-Drive By Shooting, Anti-Elderly Abuse, Anti-Child Abuse and Anti-Gun Violence and all such things, have categories which remove any options for appeals.

Eventually it is going to be done, by one state or another, Louisiana should simply step up and get it done.

We need to remove the options for people sitting in prison for 10-20 yrs, after they have been given the death sentence, If these things are categorized properly and done honest and correctly, should it be carried out within 90 days???? Examples of such types of crimes>: Someone kills another and hack up the body, there is no reason for appeal, and there is no reason for delay in carrying out the verdicts decision.

What kinds of things you think will improve justice, promote more deterrent and be more sane for a society to advance us past the callousness which has led us down a path where people have determined they can do anything and practically get away with it.

Do you realize how many innocent people are on death row today or how many have been executed and found innocent after? I think we should focus on the root of crime instead of the result of our capitalist priorities.

I'm for what works best, that's why I said : "If these things are categorized properly and done honest and correctly"

We need a great deal of work unto our Legal system, "we need to look at precedents which were established not only in Post Slavery Society, but those which were cemented during "Segregation". These historical time periods had a great many things to do with the inequity within the Legal System as well as how Law Enforcement's was/is driven and managed in its process. "THE POOR" should not be handled under a system of inequity, which does not apply equally to the wealthy. (The Poor= poor whites, poor women, poor minorities and poor immigrants).
( if anyone remembers the circus act when they pretended to arrest Paris Hilton, and she spent a in and out, less than a day doing the in and out followed by a media circus). Yet, someone from the segment of "The Poor" would still be fighting and out of thousands of dollars fighting such craziness.

We went from a system claimed to be about "protect and serve" to something else- which now is far too often "insinuate and incarcerate", which is a terrible form and process of current day enforcement process and tactical management.

We certainly need to be careful as to how we slap young people, "mostly minorities with Felony Labels", for things they often do not invoke or attach to non minorities for the same and similar incidents.

We have LOTS of work to do to upgrade our system to one built to support and respect "equality" in how it is administered and how it is enforced at all levels.

We need to re-think the prison system as it relates to non violent crimes. Certainly we need to stop locking people up for less than one Ounce of Marijuana. And review the whole of what is allowable and what is managed by a simple fine.
Why ruin so many lives over something other states have allowed to be sold legally!!!!

First the subject line of this posting is offensive to me and is not a politically correct term. If you are confused as too why "Louisiana Needs Anti-Hoodlum Act" is offensive then please consult with a knowledgeable civil rights attorney.

Second, the implications of this new Act can be translated a number of ways including a broad overreach by government into our personal lives by law enforcement.

In conclusion "Change And Change" has lost touch with the people by promoting a dictatorship in the USA and needs to stop threatening us with these types of posts.

You are welcome to define the word "hoodlum"

Hoodlum does not define any particular ethnicity, race or gender- if you look up the word in its basic context, it is very clear in the core of its meaning.
(A hoodlum can be anyone from a dangerous thug to a person who’s just up to no good) What is a "thug" =a brutal ruffian or assassin / let's not get lost in any racial or gender containment, let's deal with the simplicity of "a violent criminal" as a basis of what is a thug.

If by any means one would think or consider not only Louisiana but any State void of having people who fit the concept of people being up to no good. Then it is evident one is not paying attention to the variety of absurd, crazy, insane, murderous and many other adjectives to describe the rude, crude, abusive, murderous and contemptuous and various of types of crimes that plague society.

It may never be likely to abolish all these categories of conduct, but there can be means to put up strong deterrents from the incessant spread of such things.

Life is precious and the works many engage to be honest and upright citizens who seek to do no harm, is a very important matter and concern to protect.
We need our young people to feel and be free in their presence and activities in public, or even in their own neighborhoods.
We need people to be and feel safe in their own homes, at their jobs and general places in society.

There again, is no 100%, but we can certainly make improvements to what has transpired in the society of today.

Where are we headed as a society? Do we grasp the expanse of what is today, technology and its capabilities, data management and its expanding role in our lives, and the compilations of individual categorical profiles being developed and expanded on each of us on a daily basis. Truly we have limits within concept!!!!! But each day, system are continually compiling data, organizing and re-organizing it as well as cross relating it to the point, we no longer walk around as unknown entities.

The system is being improved each day, at some point, it will force a systemic formation of responsibility upon society and its citizens. Call it what you want, or don't call it anything. The matter is, data compilations is the era which we live and it is unlikely to vanish within our lifetimes.
We may be of great care to focus now upon what is the history being built about us, by managing our conduct in a responsible manner so as not to be mis-categorized and ultimately become a circle with negative connotation within the data descriptive reference to whom we are.
If that is frightening, don't blame me for talking about it, research for yourself, and come to your own interpretations.

Science and technology is far beyond where the commonest of our society is open in mind to consider- and within that spectrum, they are leaving as few stones un-turned as they can. There are segments of society where the tech advances are beyond what is common to us, but at a different level in select categories, its is an astronomical leap to grasp where it is, and what it has capability to do.

If one looks at crime today, forensics and many other tools being utilized, its is more and more difficult for criminals to escape for very long, therefore it will be and can be within time, a means to address the hoodlum factor within societal sectors, and this may be good and bad, people may get mislabeled and caught up, but that won't change the trajectory of systems being developed and those which are being considered as to development.

Remember once the Cell phone was a fantasy, today it is not only common place, the unit itself is a pocket sized computer with conjoined capability of doing what it would take many individual devices of very large scale size to do and those could only do a fraction of what a smart phone can interactively do today. How little we care to know is not a good think, we should be concerned to know as much as we can perceive to want to know and expand upon that as the days come and go.
We can't stop the procession of these developments, nor can we cause a discard to what has been developed, therefore we may need to be of concern to learn of what exist and what is within capabilities as to the existence and usage of many of such things.

If that does not tell us something of the big picture, its only because we are not paying attention.

PC Nazis can take a long walk off a short pier. The offensiveness is their rudeness and control freak attempts to control what people say and think. This is America and we have free speech. If you don't like the words that people use, tough. Grow up. Oh, I see now this comes from a right wing tea party Rebublican. Never mind. It would be like trying to explain nuclear physics to a duck. Go back to searching for birth certificates and supporting Trump. The only threat that exists is the chance of heat stroke from under that tinfoil hat.

Louisiana used to have a very effective, time tested, anti hoodlum mechanism....it was called the Mob. They ran crime in a very business like manner, and they don't like small time competition. That's a bad business for everyone. When Bobby Kennedy sent Marcello back to Sicily, everything fell apart, and you see the results of that today. You're always going to have some crime, let the pros handle it (which is why it's called organized crime, vs the deadly unorganized chaos that exists now). Better to have them commit the crimes, as usually the people that got hurt were double dealing associates who were criminals themselves. It's dumb and dangerous to let the police, politicians and gangs commit the crimes. They have NO ethics.

Chicago is a perfect example. When the families ran that town, even during the worst crime waves, the people that were killed were nearly always criminals. Look at today. Children w/ guns killing others over $5 rocks of crack, innocent people being gunned down in crossfire or simply killed for some picayune reason or other, entrenched, violent, drug addled gangs, etc. Bring back the Mob and that would all disappear. You need an enforcer, and I don't mean the cops, who are as likely to shoot innocent people (and get away w/ it) as the criminals, or be directly involved in the drug action themselves. That police force they have is the very definition of corruption, as are the politicians, and people are needlessly dying because of them. Look at what is happening in New Orleans, and has been happening ever since Carlos left. But it will never happen. This country makes a fortune off crime, what w/ the prison workers and board of directors, attorneys, judges, court employees, cops, FBI, and on and on. Right now I think that 5 million families have someone incarcerated. All these crime workers have everything to lose by seeing the crime go down as they make too much money off it.

Factors are of many things and those things have great impact on society, culture and certainly on the stature and status of this state and its citizen populations. It impacts not only the tourist aspect, but the development and employment concerns of industry and where industry choose to position and how it establishes its presence.

Hoodlum -Thug - Violence and Crime
and any combination or singular concept of term usage is a damage factor that result to be costly to all citizens as well as the generation of youth who will some day become the adults of this state and its cities.

As the previous poster stated, there once was an organized structure within crime. If one watch a current movie "Scario", it talks about the nature of crime management the Columbia Cartel engaged to control the crime factors, and once the cartel was removed, and now the new Cartels are flat out blood thirsty and kill in mass volumes and result to devastate so much of many areas of Mexico and threaten areas of Texas and Arizona along the borders, they are not like the more controlled system in the various era's and stages of the Columbian/Peruvian system.
The previous poster made an interesting point within commentary, about the management of low level crime these big organized crime figures found ways and means to contain.

I'm not a big advocate of crime, organized or not, but there is a matter that seems to be part of controlled crime organizations whom simply do not tolerate low level run wild thuggish activity. It's an oddity in the realism, but they did and in some places they have a role they play in stamping out the wild man ignorance of low level street crimes, as well as various types of crimes that are degrading to communities.
