First, Calcasieu Parish is where you are asking to live (notice none of the previous posters mentioned our Parish?) so if you tell that to your realtor it should make many more properties become available in their search.
Snippy?

What's the point of mentioning the parish?

A lot of Calcasieu Parish, like Cameron Parish is uninhabitable wetlands. The area that is habitable has been mentioned. I'm not sure why this person was bashing us...

Did I make the snippy remarks?

So in conclusion I should be looking into Calcasieu Parish to be in the heart of the oilfield work?

Think of a "parish" as a "county" in other parts of the country.

Lake Charles is the "seat" of Calcasieu Parish. All of the industry is in Westlake, Sulphur, and Carlyss mainly.

I see, so Lake Charles is like DC to USA? It is the "capital" or Calcasieu? I don't know why some guy suggested to me regarding oil field work is in Lake Charles. He could've said Westlake, Sulphur or Carlyss so I'd be right at the center of it. Do those 3 places have housing or is it like mostly "industry"?

A parish is simply a county in the state of Louisiana and historically the two words were used interchangeably. Lake Charles is the parish (county) seat of the Calcasieu parish (county). The areas mentioned are outlying areas of the metropolitan. Westlake has houses, as does Sulphur and Carlyss That said, right now the Lake Charles area is experiencing a shortage of affordable housing for many residents.
