My family and I are thinking of moving to Pineville within the next few months. Can anyone tell me about it? We currently live in Dallas and have 2 little girls. (5 and 2). I love the idea of living in a small town and Pineville looks beautiful but I really don't know anything about the town or LA itself. Some of the questions I have:

Are the people friendly? Is it a welcoming place?
Is it a safe place to live?
Are there any homeschooling resources available?
What do you do for entertainment?
If you live there do you love it? Why?
Are the bugs really that bad?

Thank you so much in advance. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and just want to make the best decision for our family.

What kind of work do you do? The unemployment rate is just over 3% but the median income is under $33000. My wife's best friend husband is from there and he never said anything bad about it.

Good luck getting out of Dallas- it is so lame!

My husband has a job offer there, so financially it would be a good move for us. I just want to be sure it would be a good move for us all the way around. Thanks for your reply!

Alexandria is just across the river and is a much bigger place. I grew up in Alex. many years ago and it is all different now. My sister still lives there and seems to like it. Pineville is a more conservative area than Alex. The humidity is MUCH worse than in Dallas (my son lives in the DFW area).

I'm excited for you. I live in Plano at the moment and it's grown pretty old. It was fun when I was single and lost, but once I made some changes, got married it just lost all of the appeal. May I ask what kind of work does your husband do? Anything that can get me ideas on getting out of here, would be much appeciated

Hi I was just wondering if you decided to move to Pineville and, if so, are you happy with your move? I noticed you asked about homeschooling and I was wondering about that and the bugs also! Haha!

I moved here from a western city a couple of years ago. I like the slower pace, green trees and grass, mild climate. June-August is mostly a hot humid hell, I just mostly stay indoors. The other months are pretty nice though. Pineville is very lacking in amenities, such as cafes, coffee shops, clothing stores, and zero nightlife ( there is only 1 bar ) I keep thinking things will improve any day, as there is a fairly large population living in and around Pineville- but so little things to serve them- but the only thing that has come here in 2 years is Hardees! ( there is an abundance of fast food, banks, and auto parts stores here) Needless to say you'll end up driving across the river to Alexandria often- which for me is a 12 mile drive outside of Pineville. Alex isn't exactly the cultural mecca of the world, but it has most things you'd expect in a fairly large town ( however its probably the largest town I've ever been to without a stand alone Starbucks store- baffling) no Waffle House either- this is the South, right?? You'll notice many things which exist in Shreveport, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge- all a couple hours away- but not in Alex/Pineville- and you'll keep asking yourself why that is!

I have never lived there but have been through many times and I also noticed the lack of the staple businesses you see most places.

Fwiw, I have heard it has a lot of Carmen this website ranks it the fifth most dangerous city in the south.

Crime in America 2015: Top 10 Safest & Most Dangerous Metros in the South - Law Street (TM)

It seemed pretty fun down and dangerous to me. But my experience is very limited.
