A Native American company that operates a casino in New Mexico has purchased Isle of Capri. This is very good news for Laguna Development Corp and also for the Lake Charles market, as long as they make improvements to the property.

What they need to do is to remodel the casino and then buy some of the industrial properties around the casino and improve the overall look and feel. For instance, they should probably buy this property out: https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2351...8i6656!6m1!1e1

I think if they bought up enough industrial properties in that area they would have enough room for a golf course.

In any case, good news for that casino, it definitely needs a facelift:

Cement and stone prices have jumped over 150% in the past year in Lake Charles due to the influx of workers seeking these materials to build homes and for the petrochemical itself to build these massive new plants.

The area surrounding Isle of Capri is used to provide these services to the local community. As a result of these factors, the land is providing a vital need to our community and will be cost prohibitive to any casino development enterprise.

Those industries could relocate to other cheaper areas. For instance, this parcel is north of I-10 and could accommodate those industries:

Isle of Capri needs to work with those industries to relocate them to other waterfront property. Then, after buying out the properties, bulldoze the properties and build a golf course there to compete with L'auberge and Golden Nugget.

It has reliable income but it pales in comparison to Golden Nugget/L'auberge. So, this is the next step for this company.

Unfortunately, I don't think that this NM company knows a lot about the area. The area around Isle of Capri is very industrial whereas the area around L'auberge/GN is pastoral. They need to change that. The only way is to to buy out those properties and find suitable relocation parcels for the companies.

To be honest, I don't think another golf course is needed at this point. I'd rather see the pool area upgraded at this casino to a really kick ass swimming pool that the general public could use for a fee. I'd also like to see the sidewalk expanded so that visitors could walk to the beach area from the casino and vice versa.

???? The beach is on the other side of the river from the Isle of Capri over a high and dangerous I-10 bridge...

perhaps a boat ride from one to the other vs a sidewalk? Along with a dope swimming pool. Large w/ nice furniture and a nice sized hot tub. Could also have a bar area.

Before we spend all this fictitious money, has OP and anyone replying to this thread been to the Golden Nugget pool in Lake Charles?

I went to it but it wasn't open yet. I have been to the L'auberge du Lac pool though, very nice.

There is no reason why another nice pool couldn't be built at Isle of Capri. They are going to need to do something to compete with Golden Nugget and L'auberge.

I have and it's quite nice. The pool area at Isle of Capri needs an upgrade.

Default sport gambling in Lake Charles

Don't know where to post this, but we are thinking of a trip to Lake Charles to do some gambling and go to Delta Downs. can someone tell me, when is the racing season over and how far is the Isle of Capri from the track? How about some of the other casinos, how about the casino at the track? Can you bet on other race tracks if you are at Delta Downs?
