My wife and i makes a great potato salad and some of our friends and family suggest that we try to market it to grocery stores. We would like to starts making it out of our home and then move to a food kitchen. Can anyone give me some direction on how to get started with this idea?

Unlikely that you could make food in your private home for public sale to food markets. I believe a commercial kitchen is required.

It definitely is. Best bet is to sell it at farmers markets, or maybe to a mom and pop restaurant. Really though, would you buy something perishable from a person who wasn't subject to commercial guidelines?

Depending on the recipe , Potato Salad may contain eggs or Mayonnaise . Highly perishable . I wouldn't buy Potato Salad from a Mom and Pop home based vendor myself .
