The bridge work was just maintenance. There is talk of a new bridge, but who knows the real truth about that. It would be nice but I find it hard to believe.

I'll take the real answer for road tax. :P You are right, LC has done zero (at least since I've been here) on the roads, except for the section of I-210 between the bridge and Nelson Road exit.

I know that Nic Hunter was talking about the possibility of a toll road. I mean it makes sense (how do you think that Texas and Florida pay for all that road work?) but I can see lots getting pissed from it.

A toll road instead of a new bridge?

I guess it's in addition. He says that he feels that a new bridge is closer than it's ever been.

Louisiana is so sad. We've given our state to big oil. A toll road is the last thing Louisiana needs. You're going to pay taxes to build a road to pay a fee to use. And many people will rejoice while everything crumbles around them.

A toll road makes sense. There is a toll to cross Lake Pontchartrain. However, I sure as heck will not pay a toll to cross either bridge in LC twice per day! We already pay enough taxes living here as it is with a near 11% sales tax and 6% income tax!

A private toll on a public road? Lake Pontchartrain is a different obstacle than the Calcasieu River. I don't like the idea of toll roads or selling public property to a private buyer.

I'm hoping Hunter turns out to be a great mayor. If this proposal actually works, the area will benefit.
