Developing Lake Charles has been a great way to keep up with all the new developments, but up until now, they only had a Facebook page. They now have their own website.

According to https://whois.icann.org, it's not operated by a Calcasieu Parish resident. The last thing our community needs is more outsourced IT services.

I will not be sharing information about this website, which advertises Lake Charles business from an office in Lafayette, with my circle of business leaders in Lake Charles.

A local Lafayette guy started Developing Lafayette as a hobby and its popularity exploded. He found an equally passionate Lake Charles guy to do the same there, as with Shreveport/Bossier (Facebook only). They share web hosting which is registered in the Lafayette founder's name.

It's sort of like Waitr on a miniscule scale, but in reverse. Whenever I use Waitr, which is a lot, I know that some of that money will make a one way trip to Lake Charles and I'm ok with that. That's where that awesome service originated and is headquartered. When I look at the menu, it becomes obvious that Waitr hired locals here who know the restaurant scene far better than they do, as I'm sure is their practice in every other city they serve.

Same with Developing Lake Charles.

If you don't want to use it, I respect that. Just wanted to offer my perspective.

Well locals really don't care about the future of Lake Charles and the potential for it to grow. If we left it up to locals to promote or encourage, all we'd have is a church and a stoplight. If it takes outside sources, then I'm all for it.
