I live in New Orleans but would like to go away this weekend..just me, and I don't need anything fancy. I would like the trip to be between 1-3 hours...not too close to home but not too far. Ideally I'd love to stay in a little cabin or lodge (budget under $150 for one night or under $200 if I go for two nights) and take a Saturday hike or hang out by a lake. I'm not into bed and breakfasts as I would really like my own space. I don't fish, I don't hunt, and I'm on a diet so really don't care about the food either! I just want to get away for a couple days and be in a different setting. Any ideas?

#1 Find a coastal Louisiana town with a hotel and go sit on the dock of the bay. Watching the shrimp boats leave in the morning over a cup of coffee is a unique and relaxing experience.

#2 I also suggest listening to the sounds of natural Louisiana and reading a good book at Kisatchie.

Vicksburg has a nice National Park that has tons of hiking trails in a hilly terrain and you could stop at an AirBnB in the historic center...
