I completely agree about Prien Lake Road.

I think there could be a few more hotels in downtown. Maybe also on locations closer to I-10/easier highway access.

Here are some google map locations where hotels could really do well:

Former Harrah's would be best for a Marriott or Sheraton:

Big lot at the corner of I-10 and Lakeshore Drive. I mean this is an obvious one. Would be great for a Hyatt Place maybe?

Competition for Quality Suites (this is right across the street from the only downtown hotel):

Right downtown (former Sears):

Nicest spot in town (could put a Drury Inn and Suites here):
https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2230...7i13312!8i6656

Locations near I-210 that aren't being utilized:
On Nelson Rd, right near casino, seems like a prime lot for a hotel:

On West Prien Lake Road, prime spot between L'auberge and Golden Nugget:

A Sheraton would be nice where the old Harahs hotel was. We already have four Marriotts. A Hyatt on that piece of land Between Pryce St and Belden St across from Quality Suites.

I agree, a Sheraton would be a good choice. We need a full service hotel to compete with the casinos. I'd really like to see a Marriott Marquis or something like that.

We definitely need a Hyatt Place. Probably should be put on the lot you recommend.

Yes and both should be full service hotels, with at least one of them having an associated convention center. It never struck me as smart to build that hotel on the north civic center grounds when you have two nice pieces of land that could accommodate a much nicer hotel with it's own convention center, such as the land on Pine St and the land mentioned above.

Hmm, doesn't the Civic Center compete with the casinos for events?

possibly, but I don't hear of too many business meetings there. Unless I'm missing something.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but how about tearing down the old housing authority building at the corner of Broad and Bilbo streets? A nice hotel tower could be put there. The housing authority could then be relocated to 5th avenue in the Wilshire Plaza (where the grocery store once sat).

The former Sear's location is now taken. A mixed use condo/apartment homes with street floor shops is coming. It is the largest residential real estate development in the history of downtown Lake Charles.

I assume the hotel market is saturated now because I don't see any new plans for hotels.

Likely, between Sulphur (along the freeway) and Prien Lake Rd, we really don't need anymore right now. Need to build some things to complement them right now.
