Playing on the internet I began searching Nelson Road extension and saw three potential ideas that DOTD is debating at the moment. I've always wondered, why didn't they just extend the street once the shopping center was built, why have trucks and what not have to go from Nelson to Lake just to get to the port. Also w/ Walnut Grove under construction, it seems pointless to have to cross the railroad turn and cross the railroad again just to get to the development. From what I've heard (was informed by an agent in Walnut Grove), there is talk about relocating the tracks to the opposite side of W. Sallier and turning the road into a boulevard. The first link gives you the three sketches. One includes a bridge that would completely bypass the tracks. Which one do you think is the most realistic?

They've been talking about this for years. I thought once L'auberge was built it would be easy to extend since Nelson was already extended right to the edge of Contraband Bayou but they didn't.

I like Alternate 1. It looks like it would use the least amount of property right-of-way.

They've been talking about building a bridge for about 30 years now.

Interesting. I hope that this is only the beginning of road work that we see. LC needs major upgrades to it's infrastructure.

Any word on the new road from the Holly Hill roundabout to L'auberge Drive? I believe the road will be called Contraband Parkway and I saw construction going on there (was there Thanksgiving) but can't find anything online about it.

This road will help traffic a lot, people at the hotels on Prien Lake Rd near Holly Hill will be able to take this instead of going to the Nelson Rd intersection which is always a mess.
