Article on men trying to adapt, focusing on Tallulah, Louisiana.

Men Adrift
The Economist

Tallulah, in the Mississippi Delta, is picturesque but not prosperous. Many of the jobs it used to have are gone.

Men still dominate risky occupations such as roofer and taxi-driver, and jobs that require long stints away from home, such as trucker and oil-rig worker.

Why did you just copy and paste that from the first page of the article -- without quotes (as if you'd written it yourself)? Did you mean to comment on it or the article as a whole?

OP, very interesting article. I may use it in one of my classes this fall, and I never would have seen it, so thank you!

It wouldn't let me just quote it.

Curious to see OP opinions of this article, especially given that this article when re-read is making a assertions about male / female roles in society yet the opening is demonstrating technological innovations are putting people out of work. In my opinion, technological innovations are a greater risk to the employment opportunities of all humans not just one race, color or gender type.

How nice! It's always a pleasure when someone find a posting genuinely interesting - or even useful!

Here's another article about women having to work even longer than ever before.
Women work longer hours than men | Daily Mail Online

What gives men the right to start working less than 45 hours a week?

We need to bring back Democrats into political office to create new laws that require men to work 50 hours a week!

Demand equality for all who are not men!

Interesting the article mentions gender nonstop but says nothing about the other demographics of Tallulah.
