This is great news for Louisiana. This will fund the last section of I-49 in Shreveport, the future I-49 / Ambassador Caffrey intersection, a bypass around Baton Rouge to the south, and LA 1 from Leeville to Golden Meadow.

This is more work that will be done on Louisiana roads than has been done in a long time.

What ever happened to the I-10 bridge in Lake Charles?

Oh that's right, Calcasieu Parish is not recognized by Baton Rouge as part of Louisiana. We are "unincorporated territory". A wild frontier region only worth of taxation revenue.

Hey I thought Trump was going to pay for I-10 bridge or was it just him saying Mexico was going to pay for the wall?

We shall see what happens. Louisiana seldom comes through with a lot of those public works projects. Also many times it is a lot less than what was originally planned.

I bet some of this money will end up here for "capital improvement projects and tourism".

The state's always had poor roads, mostly due to the saltwater everywhere and flood damage. But hopefully this will change things for the better! I just wish it didn't have to come at the cost of other things.

Will we be able to afford to maintain these roads in 30 years?

If roads are built correctly, they should last 50 years.
