It looks like we are moving back to Lafayette. My husband is originally from there and I lived there briefly from 2009-2012 so we know the area, but it has grown so much since then.

We are relocating from Denver and would like to buy a house in the south side of town, maybe even Youngsville, but I know they have a huge problem with flooding.

What neighborhoods should we be concentrating on?

Great public elementary school district (not private)
Kid friendly (we have an almost 4 year old)
South end of town (he will be working in Broussard)

3 or 4 bedroom
Would prefer new construction, but not a must
No flood area. Or previously flooded

Budget of 400k

Many thanks in advance

Lafayette floods real badly during heavy rains. I'd definitely thoroughly investigate the area before you decide on a location for a home. Also consider your commute to/from work, if that applies.
