The title pretty much says it all. I saw online that you need to present a driver’s license to get your car inspected in Louisiana. Does it have to be a Louisiana license or can it be a Texas license?

I'd call a state inspection place and ask them. They'll probably know.

What parish?

Is there a reason you don't want to get your La. DL first? Is your inspection expiring?

I moved to Louisiana in 2017. As I recall, I got my inspection first, with my Texas Driver's License. Calcasieu Parish. I remember it because I considered going to Beaumont to get my car inspected, if necessary. But I didn't have to.

But I can't swear to it. Because I was buying a house & doing the car stuff all during the same period of time. I got my La DL and transferred my registration & got my car inspected. I also had to get a certified copy of my birth certificate to get my DL. It was all pretty complicated (& expensive because La charges you sales tax on the car).

There may be differences between parishes, though. And it's also possible the little bitty business that inspected my car shouldn't have. I don't know.

But these parishes are apparently different?:

Individuals with vehicles registered in New Orleans, Kenner or Westwego cannot have their vehicle inspected at a state inspection station. These individuals should contact their city government.
All vehicles registered in the parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston, and West Baton Rouge must be inspected in one of those same five (5) parishes.

I'm in Ouachita Parish. When I got my oil changed, I asked if I could get it inspected there without my out-of-state license and they said yes.

Shouldn't matter. What state is the vehicle registered and insured in? Louisiana? They also need those documents to validate the inspection.

And you will get a ticket if they catch you driving your La. car with Texas drivers license after 30 days.
