I found a house on on Stonewood Dr. off of S. Harrels Ferry road. I was wondering about that area. Is it a nice safe area to live in? How are the people in that area? is it far from major shopping and malls and from the night life? Is it hard to get to the interstate from there?

The neighborhood iteself (upper middle class, probably built in the 1970s) is probably OK. I would be a little about the fact that you have some less than desirable apartments on O'Neal Lane just down the street, though.

You have movie theaters nearby (I think it's called the Rave), and they recently opened up a Super Target on Millerville. Interstate access is pretty close (the Millerville exit). Only thing is, Harrell's Ferry is a 2 lane road with a lot of subdividisions on it, and the Millerville widening is not complete.

As to malls, though Cortana is probably closer, the Mall of Louisiana is easier to get to on the Interstate, plus, it's a LOT nicer than Cortana, which is in a declining part of town.

Default Not to familiar with that part of town

I am coming from the gonzales area. I was wondering the quickest way to get to that part of town to go actually look at the area, as i have only seen the house on the internet. Probably would be catching the interstate from old perkins highway.

I'd get on I-10 at Prairieville or Highway 30, then take I-12 at the 10/12 split. Go on I-12 till the Millerville exit, and take a right. Stonewood should be right there.

I did a search on Yahoo maps for Stonewood Drive. Hope this helps !

thank you for all of your help. I really like the way this house looks on the internet. I am going to go look at it this week sometime. I think i can find it. I really like the style of the houses in that area, the 70's style ranch. I hope this is a pretty safe neighborhood. From the pics it looks nice and clean around there. I dont want to live in a place where i have to worry about break ins or worry about hearing gun shots while im trying to sleep. Can be a pretty freaky feeling.
