where I'm living now (colorado - Denver area), Walmart is opening the Neighborhood Markets almost exclusively....

what happened was, they were beeing blocked from opening Supercenters by Neighboorhood groups opposing their stores.

so - Walmart corporate changed strategies, adn started buying up closed 'big box stores' like circuit cities, etc.; and opening up the smaller WalMarts -- as the locations were already zoned for their purposes, there was not the opportunity to oppose the opening of a Wal-Mart at their local town council meetings...
