We moved to Alex. from FL. last year. My 17 yr. old son is doing fine and rarely says anything -but he did tell us last night he reeealllllyyyyy is missing fL. and plans to go back when he is done with school. He is an avid fisherman and hunter/outdoorsman so I know he would love LA. if he could just find where to go and what to do. Please help suggest summer things across the state for weekend trips, etc... He misses the diving and fishing (lobster season....) he misses airboats.... etc..What are some great spots that every Louisianan should see and do? HELP him love your state, Please!!!

Caddo Lake. It spans the border between Texas and Louisiana in the far NW corner of the state. It's probably one of the last places where you can go and see things virtually unchanged from 150 years ago, albeit a few oil drills in some locations. I've posted some pictures from a fishing trip there last fall, in the "Pics of LA" thread that's stickied at the top. They're on the second to last page I think. Seriously, if he can't enjoy it there, he's not an outdoorsman and he'll never like Louisiana.

There are two books that might offer some good suggestions: Louisiana Off the Beaten Path and 50 Hikes in Louisiana. I saw these in Books-a-million.
