yea okay...no problems in Sheveport. What was I thinking ?

Maybe I just left my rose colored glasses at home the many, many times I've been there.

I used to work with a guy that lived in Shreveport . He had NOTHING good to say about the place .
There isn't a city out there that doesn't have it's share of problems .

Br or Shreve; doesn't matter- both are STILL in Louisiana which has little respectability from the rest of the world

Lake Charles.

It's small enough to be comfortable. It's big enough to have everything you need. It's close to the Louisiana coast *and* it has casinos.

Holy Smidt! What else could a person possibly want?

I prefer New Orleans, but not proper. I think Mandeville is the best city in the state and cities close enough to New Orleans, but far enough away to where you can maintain some normalcy. I also would put the rest of the North shore cities up there for the same reason.

For me, it'd be a tie between Lafayette and Ruston. Lafayette if you're young, and Ruston if you're older and have a family. They're both very different towns, but are clean and friendly, with good economies. Ruston's small, Lafayette's large. Ruston's more typically "Southern," and Lafayette's more Cajun. Ruston's in the piney hills, and Lafayette's near the coast with swamps around it. I love both towns and miss Louisiana!!

SBCMetro,

How prevalent is the boiled crawfish scene in SBC? Are they still in season over there now.

I vote for Slidell as the best place to live in LA. Why? You're right across the state line from Mississippi, and you're closer than anywhere else in the state to the Florida beaches.
Are you out of your mind? It is one of the LAST places I'd live post Katrina. It's the new New Orleans East. Ugh

I have lived in several areas. Unless you are looking for the Cajun experience full time, I'd say SBC is the way to go for sure!!!
