I just got transfered by Halliburton to Bossier City, LA!!! Louisiana has the best weather in the nation, awsome food, history, culture, etc. I can't wait to visit Avery Island, the casinos in Shreveport, the superdome (Geaux Saints!) Prejeans in Lafayette, and LSU. Louisiana rocks, and who cares what the rest of the nation thinks. I've been trying to get here for over ten years...it's a dream come true to be living here. I rep St. Louis, MO, but I can now call Louisiana home!
I wasn't surprised by the results. People love to bash Louisiana and the South in general, but I've found Southerners to be the most hospitable people imaginable. Can't wait to go to Louisiana next weekend.

Kate, what are you doing in the Louisiana forum?!
I love Louisiana and I am over due for a visit

Oh I am so jealous!! Beignets..you promise

We are going to try for the spring, there are a few towns we want to check...Mandeville, Covington & Abita Springs.

Have also read they have expanded the D Day museum in NOLA, my husband can spend an entire day there looking at the exhibits. We've been twice & I know he'll go again.

Kate, I think you and I are making wise decisions, me going earlier, you going later, to avoid the mad rush of Mardi Gras. It's something I would certainly like to experience at some point, but too chaotic for when I'm just trying to sample the everyday local flavor (often literally, lol).

48 hours...I can almost hear the music coming out of Preservation Hall

I think I'll take the easy approach and just go to Mardi Gras in Shreveport this year! By the way, Merry Christmass Louisiana!
