So we're heading up to Arkansas from the New Orleans area and, (we're passing thru Metairie now), Hubby turns to me and says we should stop for meat pies and then we start thinking we could stop other places and pick up well known food. We're gonna get Hi Ho's in Hammond, etc. Any suggestions?

The Landing in Natchitoches is pretty good. It's downtown on Front Street

If heading north on I-49 through Natchitoches, take the exit and turn west (left). In short succession you'll pass a couple of hotels, gas stations, and fast food places, then there will be a gas station kind of separate from the others on the left side of the road. This place has the best fried boudin I have ever had.

if you pass through Lafayette/Acadiana at all, stop by Dons specialty meats off of I49 for some of the best boudin in acadiana.
Don's Specialty Meats

There are many other great boudin places around here though. You have to try it.

We're on Frontage Rd., but no, Don's (took exit 4 made right and got on Frontage Road). Maybe it's on the other side of 49 heading south? Anywhoo, we'll catch them on the way home, (that link makes it sound sooo good). Two antique malls and a Hi-Ho beef so far. I'm hoping we'll get at least to Memphis, but we'll see how the driver feels later on.

the best boudin is around Lafayette. trust me on that. Its all around the city and surrounding parish, but the quality/taste falls off dramatically past that.
