German Couple from San Antonio would love to visit Lafayette for the July 4 Holiday. What is going on there that week and what is the best restaurant to visit? Is there a beach nearby?

1. the closest real beach is on Grand Isle which is way to the southeast Louisiana.

2. Depends on what food you like.

Well you have quite some choices.

Randol's on Kaliste Saloom
Don's Seafood on Johnston
Prejeans off I49 near Carencro
Cafe Vermillionville on Pinhook
Hub City Diner on College road
Mulate's and Cafe Des Amis in nearby Breaux Bridge

These are all excellent.
My personal favorites are Don's and Prejean's.
I dont think you can go wrong with any of them though.

I do want to clarify though that around here the food is Cajun style which is a bit different from Creole. As for authentic creole I think someone else will have to answer because there is creole influence in the dishes but I cant say for sure how many are truly authentic. Cajun food itself is delicious though.
