Hey,
My husband and I are considering moving to Louisiana. I am originally from Chicago and he is from Nigeria, but has been living in the us for 10 years, we have a son.
We are currently living in kingwood Texas close to Houston.
i really don't like Texas hillbilly kinda vibe.. very boring.
i would like some honest opinions.
what city would be more accepting of us.

New Orleans, hands down. Baton Rouge is getting better but deep down, it's still an Southern town, the mindset and attitude are still there, probably not out in the open that often but nonetheless there. New Orleans has an certain live and let live kind of vibe, so in Louisiana, it's probably the best bet for mixed couple (especially for white female and none-white male couples.).

In Baton Rouge you would recieve stares from some, but usually not from anyone important. In the city of New Orleans you wouldn't turn any heads. They see much, much stranger down there.

I live in Kingwood, Texas, and in a mixed-race marriage.
If you think Kingwood is unaccepting and hillbilly, you are most definitely not going to find Baton Rouge to your liking. Kingwood hardly even feels Texan to me, sometimes.
New Orleans will suit you better.

edit:
or maybe you're just saying Kingwood is boring, and in that respect, I agree, it is indeed boring out here.

I would recommend New Orleans over Baton Rouge for any couple, mixed or not.

My family was one of the first settlers in Baton Rouge and I lived there by way of Lafayette, San Diego and Houston - the latter too being very multicultural and accepting of everything. Even though I should have earned a 1/2 of a nanometer of respect in BR, I didn't. New Orleans wins my vote! Read about the racial riots in baton rouge in the 60's or 70's, you'll pick Nola too!

Those riots were 40 years ago and instigated by outsiders . Irrelevant .

Who were these " first settlers " you claim to be related to ?
