Although I can't answer your question, I would say that Audoban Zoo in New Orleans is a great zoo.

The BR Zoo is lovely...it is clean, organized, small, but great for a small child to enjoy the day...heck, as a grad student I enjoyed the day at the BR Zoo...all of the retired Mike the Tigers live there, and while it is not as extensive in NOLA's zoo, it is a great place to see the animals upclose. Alexandria, LA has one of the most extensive, user enjoyable zoo in the area. It is a perfect size for a day of fun in the sun with the family. Not expensive ($5 to get in) and it is oriented to the children.

Yes, New Orleans is the Mother of all Zoos...but for the cost and the crouds, it has some set backs if you just want to have a day plan...
