Hello,

I am relocating to Louisville at the end of September and I am trying to get my dear dad to relocate as well. He is 88 and still fairly independent. However he recently told me he is thinking about going into assisted living. Anyway, does anyone have any first hand knowledge of any of the facilities in Louisville? He wants to have his own apartment and I think he will be bringing his car. Just needs help with housecleaning, laundry, etc. I am going to be checking out some of the places when I go house hunting later this month.

Input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We use Home instead for my grandparents and it is a Godsend! We have two women who each stay 24 hrs 3 1/2 days a week. They cook, clean and care for Grandma mainly. Good luck!

If you can afford it, the Glenview Condominiums are great for him. It is a mini-highrise at the corner of Lime Kiln Lane and US-42. The units sell for around $100,000 and have everything a young man like your father needs. It is way better than any other alternative.

Default web link

Here is an overall site:
Louisville Metro - Kentucky: Assisted Living - Retirement Communities and Retirement Homes on RetireNet.com

I'm trying to find the name of where my grandma is at in Lexington. It's not assisted living but more like a older person dorm - food's included but you have to have your wits about you. Reminds me of a cruise ship with all their entertainment schedules.

There is a local business called Home To Home (www.hometohomeservices.com) that helps people find assisted living & elderly care facilities for their loved ones. It's a local company owned and operated by Sharon Bohnert who went through the aches and pains of finding the right facility for her own dad. You may want to try them.

My 84 year old neighbor has been talking about moving to Treaton Oaks (I doubt that I spelled that correctly - can someone else in Louisville provide the correct name - could not find it via Google). Is apparently very nice and has a great dining area.

Treyton Oaks?

Senior Lifestyle Corporation | Treyton Oak Towers (http://www.seniorlifestyle.com/index.php/fuseaction/index.php/fuseaction/communities.detail/cid/21 - broken link)

I'm not so sure about recommending them. I know someone in the business and I keep meaning to ask her about this. Anyway, here is a little more info on them:

When I was looking for my mom this directory can in handy, you should give it a shot. It's free and it finds you a spot based on your income and your loved ones needs.
