Sweet, I've always preferred Kentucky Kingdom over Kings Island anyway. Makes for a nice Saturday trip down to the blue grass state. The Koch family is top notch, free drinks and sunscreen and if you've ever been to Holiday World KK will definitely be clean.

There's been some questions about the Kochs' motives in buying Kentucky Kingdom. Attendance at Holiday World has been up 40% since KK closed two years ago; wouldn't it be to their advantage to delay reopening it and then not invest as much into it as they do Holiday World? And already their refurbishment plan calls for investing $20 million into the park, as opposed to the $50 million Ed Hart was going to spend.

makes no sense to buy and open your biggest competitor. as far as k.k. being better than kings island? come on now. kings island has the best coasters in the midwest except for cedar point. no comparison.

As far as overall package, I personally think KK is better. Better water park, better immediate surroundings, being a stones throw away from downtown LOU > the burbs of Cincinnati.

But comparing KK to Holiday World, Holiday World wins hands down! Went to Kentucky Kingdom Twice and that was three times too many. Went once with my 2 sons and a step granddaughter. Hated having to rent the inner tubes or whatever you want to call them, then have to carry them around the water park while getting something to eat, of have somebody to hold them while you go to the bathroom. Don't have to rent at Holiday World! I'm closer to HW so will probably stick with it but we may slip up to Louisville sometime to check it out.

Heard the Holiday World spokeslady say on the radio yesterday say that patrons from Louisville were a small percentage of attendance at HW and their biggest draw comes from Indianapolis and other places.

With the success of HW, it's pretty obvious they know what they're doing.

they do know what they are doing. at least the founder did, who if i'm not mistaken, recently passed away?

the biggest problem with k.k. is the location. no room to grow and that stupid bridge is the only way to get to the back half of the park. it was an ill-conceived idea to turn it into a large theme-park imo. i would like to see it re-open, but i've often wondered what condition the rides are in after just sitting for so long.
