Thanks. You need a car before you can live in it. lol

I've called some places and I'm waiting on callbacks. I should have figured that a lot of whether or not you can get a bed is determined the night you call, so they can't possibly know 3 weeks in advance. I really appreciate all the help you all've given.

this is for RICKERS and creatures like him, wow if you can't offer the guy help please do kindly have the good grace to reserve your pathetic and hypocritical attempt at wishing him luck while in essence turning your back and walking off. poor thing, so, this is your 'charcter' and 'strength' is it? all homelessness seems to have made you into is a pathetic and probably lonely person. kindly reserve your platitudes for a receptive audience. oh ya, hurray for you, all you wanted was to promote yourself for having upheld your responsibility to your children. big deal. you're not special. all you wanted as an 'atta boy' so now that you have it, do kindly quiet yourself.

Lightbulb To license or not to license

And how can I keep a job if I don't have a car? It seems like the world is set-up for people who already have money and already have a family. People like me are in a weird place because of it.

I'm trying hard to plan for everything that might happen...
You don't need to have a car or even plan on getting a car in order to get a drivers license. In New York City, many workers who live in the city do not own cars but still have a drivers license. Occasionally they will rent a car when they go on trips or for other reasons but find it helpful even in a city where they rarely drive.

A job applicant can explain much easier on why they don't have a car vs. why they don't have a license. A license helps with identification, allows the ability to drive company vehicles (even forklifts), and gives a more rounded appearance as a job seeker. Getting a college degree obviously shows abition and by not getting a drivers license over the past 3-5 years indicates a slight slip when compared against other college graduates applying for the same job.
