How is Liberty Green these days?

My husband and I just moved but we might have to move again . I see craigslist ads for Liberty Green all the time, and from the surface they look like the kind of place we should consider: nice, new, reasonably-priced, and near husband's job. Even when driving by the neighborhood doesn't look bad. I noticed kids playing outside and such.

Are all sorts of people moving in or are they mostly families? We're in our 20s, low income, and don't have any kids.

I wasn't even around when the place used to be a "ghetto" but I still can't shake that connection out of my mind. I appologize but I can't help but ask myself "is that location going to be better than it used to be?" That's why I'm asking how it is now, versus a couple years ago when they first started renting. How is Liberty Green compared to Old Louisville, as in safety and level of crummy-ness? My husband would be walking home from work after 11PM that's why I ask. We liked Old Louisville and we didn't have any problems with safety on our block.

Thank you.

Should be fine. Most of the crime outside the west end is south of Broadway, in a small square shaped area known as smoketown. Liberty Green is still mostly lower income, but they are starting to build some more higher income units and some for sale.

There are several nice condo developments in the area, including Gallery Square Lofts. There are some panhandlers and vagrants around the area at night close to Wayside Mission, and also close to the FirstLink grocery, but most are harmless.
