Hello,

I'll probably will be dropping in town in a few weeks for a few nights from Chicago. Hoping to get a few street names around downtown, or close by, so that I may find a few decent hotels. Would ideally like to be near a few good restaurants or bars. If anyone has any suggestions about things to do in Louisville during a weekend, that might be cool. Thank you!

Looking at a map, anything between Main street and Broadway and between First St and 9th St will serve you fine.

Specifically, nice historic local downtown hotels include 21c, the Galt House, the Seelbach, and the Brown. There's also the Marriott and the Hyatt. All five of those will be within walking distance of downtown bars and restaurants. Most downtown bars and restaurants are on 4th street between Jefferson and Broadway, or on Main Street near the Yum Center arena (between 3rd and Brook) Bardstown Road bars and restaurants will be a fairly short cab ride away.

I cannot reiterate enough that the person needs to visit the Highlands as well. Ask for a cab to Baxter and Highland Avenue and also to Bardstown around Bonnycastle Ave. Another area you will want to visit is Frankfort avenue.
