Hi,

I'm coming to Louisville area for a golf trip with 3 other guys. We're going to stay one night in Louisville to see the nightlife.

Is there a nightlife district in Louisville we should see. Ie. Beal Street Memphis or Bourbon Street New Orleans?

We want to book the right hotel, ideally within stumbling distance of of the best night life area in Louisville.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Eric from NJ.

My friend, you have hit the jackpot if you are looking for interesting night life:

And if you are baseball fans:

And if you are history buffs:

And if you are Trekkies:

All downtown with a few blocks of each other. Enjoy!

4th Street is the newest/shiniest nightlife area of Louisville. Let's see, there's Howl At The Moon (a dueling piano bar- awesome), Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge, Sully's, Tengo Sed Cantina, Angel's Rock Bar, and a comedy club and a fancy bowling alley, and some other bars/clubs that I can't remember.

Personally, I prefer the more eclectic vibe of the Highlands (Bardstown Road). It's less commercial and fits better with the slogan "Keep Louisville Weird." Some of the bars you'll see (all within walking distance) along Bardstown Rd: Phoenix Hill (lots of live music), Flanagans, Molly Malones, O'Sheas, Wick's Pizza, Cahoots, BW3s, Back Door. I know I'm missing some, but that's just off the top of my head. Also lots of cool shops and restaurants along Bardstown Road.

Of course, both areas are fairly close to each other, maybe a 5-10minute drive if you have a vehicle or don't mind calling a cab.

I know there are quite a few hotels downtown around the 4th Street Live area (Galt House, Marriott, Fairfield Inn, Springhill Suites, and maybe a Hampton Inn). But I can't think of any hotels within walking distance to Bardstown Road. You'd probably want to stay in one of the downtown hotels and drive/take a cab over that way if you decide to check it out.

Have fun!

Fourth street is full of Frat boys looking for fights and the Highlands are full of people full of themselves trying to be "in the scene".

Me too! Very lively with a great energy.

Downtown seemed kinda commercialized and profit-driven.

Highlands just had energy and where most of the locals seem to be at.

(This is just a visitor perspective, who quite liked your city, by the way)
