I am a male in my mid-twenties about to move to Louisville for work. I have done some research on the area and believe The Highlands to be the area best for me (single, like to go out, etc.). I was wondering, other than beating up people on Craigslist - does anyone have a positive experience with realtors that deal with rental real estate in the area? Or a website that I should be looking at?

Places I am interested in would be 1,000-1,500 sq. ft., with furnishings that weren't installed in the early 90's or before.

I know there are the standard Q's for new members in that sticky, so here goes my answers:

-Where you are working:

Downtown on 4th street. Would like to have a 10-20 minute commute to work.

-How much you are willing to spend on housing

Rental only - about $1,000 - $1,500 per month. Ideally $1,200-$1,400.

-If you have kids: Private school or public school?

No kids that I know about.

-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight?

Ideally, an area that I can go out in, and have a good time. Single people have some prevalence in the area, or at least some wives who are registered on that "Let's have an affair" website.

-Community amenities important to you

Bars, restaurants. Nice grocery nearby would be a plus.

-Pie or cake?

Pie.

I guess the answer to this question is "There isn't one, other than Craigslist. Good luck." If anyone has a different answer, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks in advance!!

i don't really know of any realtors that do rentals around here. not saying that there aren't any, just not as prevelant as other cities. a lot of highland rentals aren't even advertised other than a sign out front. driving around the area has always been one of the best resources as far as the highlands go. with your budget you should have no trouble finding an excellent place to live. where are you from? a lot of people move here without realizing one of the biggest advantages of our city is how cheap housing is. 1200 a month will get you something primo. 900 a month could get you something quite nice.

unfortunately, craigslist is probably your best tool.
hope this helps and good luck.
