Louisville Outer Loop Areas (Fern Creek: apartment complex, crime, houses)

I will soon be moving to the Louisville area. I have a job offer in a retail store in the area around New Cut and Outer Loop roads in Louisville, near Walmart. I am wondering if this is a safe area. I currently live in a small town of about 20,000 so I know it will be a change. I just don't want to work in an area where people minding their own business become crime victims frequently. I really appreciate any help!

It's definately not the nice part of town but i wouldn't call the area unsafe. there are, however some very unsafe apartment complexes around that area. one on national turnpike comes to mind, but i can't remember the name. norfolk, maybe?

a little more info on where your from, what your used to and what your looking for could be helpful.

The above person is a total IDIOT there is nothing wrong with that area at all.The area the moron above is talking about is called YORK TOWN and there has NOT been any problems there in several years.About a mile north east is a street called old third street road there are several brad new subdivisions with very nice houses being built.

Since that area is right off the Gene Snyder (I-265), you could easily live in the Fern Creek area, Glenmary, or even Mt Washington and still have quite an easy drive. Even during 'rush hour', that portion of I-265 isn't crowded. Those areas will have a greater selection of ammenties within a very short driving distance and that area is still seeing new business open.

idiot, huh? moron? i had a friend who was lmpd tell me yorktown was #1 apartment complex for cocaine and meth busts in jefferson county. i guess it's safe if your white trash cruisin through there lookin for a hit, and from the sound of your hostile, name calling, internet tough guy post that may be why you like it. it's good ole boys like you that make louisville a horrible place to live. have fun floating in your misery and trying to bring everyone else down with you.

you know, this kinda proves a point from another thread. louisville is full of unhappy, un-educated hostile people. this gentleman could have simply disagreed with me and maybe tried to enlighten me as to why he thought i was wrong. instead he comes out the box with name calling and insults.
