Hey

I'm coming into Louisville in August for a one day conference at the airport hotel.
It will be a Sunday when I come in about 2 pm

Where should I go to and what should I see?
Any dinner recommendation while I'm out and about?

TIA

Steve

bardstown rd. through the highlands, which is north of the watterson. a trip to cherokee park, maybe see downtowm amd the river. that should give you four hours.

definately place the highlands on the top of your priorities.

Too bad Churchill Downs is closed in August. That would have been a great place to visit.

Are you a baseball fan? The Louisville Slugger Museum is great, but I'm not sure it's open on Sunday.

It is. Sunday is perhaps its biggest day. Many other museums in that area are open Sunday too. I do recommened that the OP stroll Bardstown Road, Cherokee Road, and perhaps fourth street, main, and market street downtown. Also check out Waterfront Park.

I'd say the museums on Main Street, in that case. All on the same block and all three of them are excellent. The Science Museum is having a Narnia exhibit, if he's into that. And the Frazier History museum has one of the best firearms collections in the country.

But I understand lots of towns have great museums. So if he only has one day and is a baseball fan, I'd say the Slugger Museum.

Steve,
Because your time is short and your location is so close to the track, think about the Derby Museum. Churchill is one of those things that make Louisville special. I know the horses aren't running now, but you can still take a cool walking tour of the track. There's an exhibition of Willie Shoemaker's personal stuff going on right now that I plan to go see myself.

And, if there's money burning a hole in your pocket, you could have dinner at Rivue. That's the restaurant on the 25th floor of the Galt House.

You could spin around while your're eating and watch the Ohio. It's another thing that makes Louisville special. (It's also beautiful at sunset) That would put you a hop-skip-anda-jump from 4th Street Live
Welcome!

Good suggestion. I had mentioned it was too bad the track was closed but forgot about the museum.

I'd definitely suggest the Derby museum. It is wonderful, and even though there's no races, it is still just an amazing place to see.
