And there is a new one going up off Hurstbourne near the intersection with Taylorsville Road, in the Home Depot parking lot.

Well pretty favorably.

My commute is less than 10 minutes and 7 miles (down from 45 minutes and 40 miles.) I've acutally had a couple of people in my building start a conversation with me (mind you in 5 years in my building in Northern VA, I never learned the 1st name of anyone in my building.) Everything is so much closer to me and half of it is even walkable. It is working out fine so far.

Just got approved for a 1 bed apt in St. Matthews and will begin the process of moving in on Friday. The factors that pushed me to this decision are;

- Ease of commute to my job on Preston.
- High walk score.
- Value of the apartment I got.
- Safety of area.

Okay now for some advice.

- What are the BEST value resturants around there?
- If my leasing company doesn't take care of it, how do I get water electric turned on and will they require deposits?
- How good is Insight on keeping appointments to install cable and how much notice do you recommend giving them?
- What else would interest a 23 yr old professional in the area (around Dupont Cir) beside the mall?
- When I need to switch my license and car registration where is the best clerk office to go to?
I used to live in St. Matthews, and loved it as well as the Highlands and Crescent Hill neighborhoods.

I actually think the best restaurants are farther north, at Lexington Road (still in St. Matthews). My favorite is Lotsa Pasta, which is a locally-owned restaurant/gourmet deli. It's on the north side of Lex. Rd., west of Breckenridge. There are also some locally-owned bars in that area, including BBC Brewing Company.

Down around Dupont Circle, it seems to be mostly chain restaurants such as Red Lobster, O'Charley's, Hooters, Panera Bread, etc. Not necessarily bad places, but not local originality, either.

Fair point. But remember last year I was living in Vine Grove near Ft. Knox, a place that had NO restaurants (I'm serious) you had to drive 4 miles into Radcliff to get to any restaurants. Never mind it was mostly chains. ANYTHING is an improvement over that.
