Hello, Newbie here. I posted this in the newcomers thread, but I was told I would get more of a response if I made a new thread.

I might be coming to Louisville for a job at WKLY. I am in my late 20's and somewhat familiar with louisville. I was wondering if someone could give me advice on Cost of living, apartments etc, etc.

For right now, I have a offer of 25,000 to 30,000 and a little bit concerned, if this is possible to live on in Louisville.

I am still paying off my student loan debt, which takes a considerable amount of my check now. I only make about 18,000 a year now and making ends meets gets hard from time to time even in this small city I stay in now.

I am hoping this move and job will help with paying student loans and make my life somewhat comfortable and way less hectic . I am interested in living close to my job if the area is affordable. By looking at google maps it looks like WLKY is located downtown? And some of the places I seen on craiglist seem to good to be true, such as the one I posted below. Also if I chose to live downtown is it still active throughout the day. If not, can you direct me to place that is active without a huge college crowd. I am kind of burnt out on the whole college club scene.

Some things about me. I love a big city with a small town feel and I think Louisville fits that interest for me. I enjoy walking to things close by such as a fitness center, local bar with different type beers, huge sports fan, mall and also a huge food person hoping Louisville has some great places to eat and not a bunch of chains.

Anything with a nice running path is great. Being from Indiana and being an hour from Indy. I am somewhat spoiled by everything being so close especially in downtown Indy, but I am willing to drive or run to get to some excitement. Very active guy in other words.

Here is the apartment I was talking about that seems to good to be true.

Thanks for answering my questions.

Do note that in the posting you linked, the pictures are not of the apartment that is for rent.

Yea, I saw that was posted, but it did say that all apartments have similar design and esthetics. Which I would be perfectly fine, if the place was something close to what was shown in the picture.

WLKY is located near where my m-n-l lived. You should find some nice apartments in the triangular area bounded by Zorn Ave on east, Frankfort Ave on south, Mellwood on the north. Some will rent in the $ 500.00 month range. Still a good place to live and if you are on Kenilworth Hill area, you can walk to work across the back lot.

Are some of those areas you listed how active are they? Are their any food places that are not chains nearby or active bars that geared towards maybe a older crowd?

You will be near one of the major restaurant rows of Louisville. The area I described is called Lower Brownsboro Rd, Clifton, and Crescent Hill.

Sounds like a good step up! Salary increase of 50% or so.

You can figure it out and be better off.

It's odd that apartment showed a photo of the sink.

I live in the Berkshire Apartments on Brownsboro Rd, less than 5 minutes from WLKY. They're older, so they're not terribly energy efficient and there's no dishwasher, but other than that they're quite nice (2 br, 830 sqf, hardwood floors) and the rent is reasonable ($525).

Hello, everyone for the second time. I am coming to Louisville for my second Interview. I was wondering if there any cheap hotels around that were close to WKLY. I have all of Friday off, I also was thinking of doing some sight seeing any suggestions? Thanks in advance
