I just saw this on the news. This would be a much better idea. Kids are supposed to go to the closest public school to their neighborhood/home. If the gov. is really interested in desegregation, they should work to desegregate the neighborhoods. It's good to have a "diverse" classroom, but if the child's world outside of the classroom doesn't match, then I think it's futile.
