Does anyone know if you can get (natural -- I'm not talking raw) milk delivery in Louisville? We have it here in Charlotte and it is so wonderful to have the recyclable bottles and support natural dairy farmers. The milk is so good.

Lakeview Farms

I would almost consider this as a business plan for the Highlands area if no one else is doing it now. It is SO popular here in Charlotte.

I did a search and it looks like the closest natural dairy farm is just south of Indy?

Thoughts?

I believe Louisivlle's last milk delivery man just retired last year. His family delivered in the Highlands area for generations, actually.

The following is a transcription of a series of posts from the Jefferson County Mailing List (http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:g4YTeHaqAGoJ:www.rootsweb.com/~kyjeffer/Reminiscence/DoYouRemember.html+bisig+milk+delivery+louisville& hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us - broken link)

This is all I can find now, but the man's name was Mike Bisig, I believe. I will look more later...maybe he is still delivering, or maybe now there are others.

We get local, organic milk in from the Lexington area, but I'm not sure what options would be closer to Louisville. I'll see if I can find out anything for you.

I know the Value Market in Mid City Mall sells I guess youd call it organic milk.

Back in the 1950's when I grew up, we had our milk delivered. That was normal back then since a lot of people didn't drive then. Slowly, the delivery got phased out...probably in the 1960's or early 1970's.
